UNDP > UNDP News > in Belarus July 29 UNDP project “Support to Expanding Public Space for Women in Belarus” starts new educational programme – ten-days summer school for young female leaders “It is always high time to be a leader!” July 29 UNDP project “Support to Expanding Public Space for Women in Belarus” starts new educational programme – ten-days summer school for young female leaders “It is always high time to be a leader!” The goal of the summer school is to promote formation of the new generation of women-leaders in social and political sphere. The teachers and organizers of the school have the following objectives: to develop leadership skills and competences of girls and foster the qualities of socially involved and responsible citizens; to provide the participants with knowledge enabling them to overcome gender discrimination, to protect the rights of women as a social group; to give the girls resources that will help them enter the sphere of decision-making; to contribute to further consolidation of women-leaders of different generations and promote dialog between them. The curriculum of the summer school includes seminars, debates, games and trainings on different issues: civil society and civic participation; participation of women in decision-making; women’s rights in the system of human rights; social influence and PR; effective communication and team work; leadership, personal growth and success throughout life. The participation in summer school is open for girls-leaders aged 18-25. 88 girls from all over the Belarus applied for this educational programme, but only 23 of them aged 18-25 with pronounced leader potential were selected as participants of the school.
