Calendar-2012 “It Affects Every Woman”: UNDP and Belarusian Stars Propose to Unite Efforts against Breast Cancer
Famous Belarusian women have united for a noble purpose. They participated in a photo session for Calendar-2012 launching an information campaign against breast cancer “It affects every woman”.
The idea of the designers of the calendar was to demonstrate to the Belarusian women that health problems concern everybody. It is very important when popular singers, actresses and television reporters say in public how and why they care of their health. A particular focus of the publication is made on the information section which gives answers to the most frequent questions about a woman’s body.
The calendar is designed in a way that medical recommendations of Professor Leonid Putyrsky, a well-known mammologist, are combined with comments of women participating in the project who tell what they think about femininity, health, children and men. They share their innermost feelings in hope to convince other women to take better care of their health.
The publication is a product of joint efforts of the United Nations Development Programme, advertising company “Excellent” and printing company “Polyprint” under the project “Enhancing Human Security in the Chernobyl Affected Areas of Belarus”.
The calendar is expected to be the first step of a large-scale information campaign for the prevention of breast cancer. Several other events are scheduled in 2012 which, in the opinion of Project Manager Olga Lukashkova, will help draw public attention to increasingly acute problem of breast cancer.
