17 tourist destinations in the Hrodna and the Brest Regions have defined strategic priorities and development focuses

The USAID project “Local Entrepreneurship and Economic Development” implemented by UNDP in the Brest and the Hrodna Regions has completed strategic planning of eco-tourism development in the project areas. As a result, 17 eco-tourism development strategy papers have been elaborated for 17 tourist destinations.

The strategies have resulted from extensive preparatory work on strengthening capacity of local counterparts. The project has organized trainings on strategic planning for the initiative teams of the destinations comprising representatives of tourist businesses, local authorities and non-governmental associations, study tours to learn from the experience of the European countries, expert consultations and working meetings of stakeholders on identification of local strategic priorities in eco-tourism.

Each strategy paper presents an assessment of the tourism potential of the destination, general vision of stakeholders concerning development goals and tasks and offers recommendations on priority measures under the strategy and the implementation mechanisms.

The List and the content of the Strategy Papers (in Russian) are available from the UNDP website (
