UNDP > UNDP News > in Belarus International scientific and practical centre of thyroid disease to be established in Belarus On December 4–5, under the joint EU/UNDP project, the two–day International Scientific and Practical Conference “Early diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with thyroid cancer” was held. Assembly hall of the restaurant “Seventh Heaven” hotel “Minsk” has gathered more than 200 participants and guests from all over the Republic of Belarus, as well as the world's leading scientists in the field of diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases. The honored guests were the director of the Nuclear Medicine Clinic, Professor, MD Christoph Reiners (Germany), and also assistant clinical professor of Nuclear Medicine, Johannes Biko (Germany).
Carrying out of the Scientific and Practical Conference at the international level is the first step towards successful implementation of the EU / UNDP project “Establishment of International Scientific and Practical Centre of Thyroid Disease”. During the conference the issues concern introducing advanced technologies of diagnosis and treatment of patients with thyroid cancer were covered. Representatives of the scientific elite of the Republic of Belarus and the world's leading scientists in the field of diagnosis and treatment of the thyroid diseases from Germany and Japan share their experience and the results of the activity. Among the speakers were such scholars as: Professor, MD, director of the International Fund “Arnika” Valentina Drozd, the Head of the Department of Endocrinology BelMAPO (“Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education”), MD Professor Larisa Danilova, Professor Christoph Reiners (Germany), Johannes Biko (Germany) and many others. “Under the EU/UNDP project the practical and scientific center will be created to the end of 2010, the idea of which was being considered for 17 years. This Centre will become the springboard for new ideas generation and synthesis of already gain knowledge in the in the field of endocrinology and oncology, as in the Republic of Belarus and abroad.
