Results of project 00062796 Building capacity for Strategic Environmental Assessment and environmental conventions implementation in Belarus

Drafts of the National Programme for Combating Land Degradation and the National Strategy for Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity in Belarus, elaborated within the project, officially approved by the Ministry of Environment and proposed for public discussion.

Environmental Conventions Center establishing documents have been prepared and discussed during the seminar in Minsk. 22 Belarusian specialists enhanced their expert capacity in Strategic Environmental Assessment through participation in the in-depth training and the study tour abroad.

Action “Climate is changing. And You?” has been conducted in Minsk Environmental School № 19. This action confined to Copenhagen UN summit on climate change and the output of the project’s "dynamic" brochure aimed to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions in atmosphere.

To raise public awareness about the project activities, more than 40 TV, radio reports and printing articles at local and national press were distributed. Project web site with appropriate databases and materials has been designed (www.ecorazvitie.by).
