Project Objective & Brief Description: |
The
overall objective is to support the reduction of transboundary industrial
chemical pollution from small industries currently discharging through municipal
waste systems.
This PDF B project provides the link between the previous GEF
investment in the Dnieper Basin, the development and country adoption of the
Dnieper Basin Strategic Action Program (Belarus, Russian Federation and Ukraine,
Years 2000-2004), and the future GEF support to a Full-Sized Project Proposal to
directly address the priority International Waters issue of industrial chemical
pollution.
Thus, the
project activity is focused at the problems of introduction the cleaner
production methods and waste water treatment at the small
industries.
The
objective of the PDF B project is to prepare the Full-Sized Project Proposal
(taking into account the Belarussian priorities and interests) that will support
the introducing of cleaner production methods, transboundary monitoring
development., improvement of Belarussian legislation in water sphere, including
harmonised environmental legislation at the Dnieper Basin countries, in line
with those prevailing in the EU, establish key institutional and management
structures within basin management bodies. |
