Project aimed to strengthen civil society in Belarus through increased cooperation and exchange of information among NGOs and with government and business.
The main instrument for achieving the
project objective was the Information Portal of the Belarusian Non-Governmental
Associations www.ngo.by which provides information services to non-governmental associations through Internet.
The major tasks of the Portal are the following: strengthening capacity building of the Belarusian non-governmental associations (NGOs), enhancement of information exchange between NGOs and other sectors, expansion of international contacts of the Belarusian NGOs, study and use of the international experience in preparation and implementation of NGO projects.
The Portal is the global information resource for the Belarusian non-governmental associations offering regional and international news, information about various events in the third sector, data bases of the Belarusian non-governmental associations and foundations of foreign countries, the legislation on non-governmental associations, monitoring of the Belarusian media, e-library, information about training for non-governmental associations, materials related to management and specifics of NGO activities (administration, organization of work, development of projects, public relations), subject-related forums covering various aspects of NGO activities, web-mail allowing subscription, free forums for registered users, web-chat for registered users, dissemination lists, questionnaires, surveys and voting on various issues. The Portal also gives the registered organizations an opportunity to place their WWW-pages and WWW-sites at the server of the Portal and to present information about the projects implemented in the Republic of Belarus with reference to presentation pages.
The project was intended to facilitate
sustainable human development and to contribute to civil society strengthening
in the Republic of Belarus. |
