UNDP project announces a contest on best PR action in Belarus rural areas
Minsk, 17 August 2006
- Belarus launches a contest on national best PR action in
regional and district centers on the topic “Family is My Protection from HIV”.
The contest is carried out under the project “Prevention and Treatment of
HIV/AIDS in Belarus” jointly implemented by the UNDP and the Ministry of Health of Belarus.
The contest objective is to attract attention of rural population, especially young people, to main aspects of the HIV/AIDS problem, prompt them to participate in information activities aimed at HIV infection prevention, and to popularize family values.
Best PR action contest is one of the activities carried out within the “Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise” infprmation campaign and implemented under the “Prevention and Treatment of HIV/AIDS in Belarus” project. The information campaign is a comprehensive PR-programme on informing the society of AIDS problems, involving people in decision-making process, popularizing the activities of organizations participating in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Belarus.
Experts of the HIV/AIDS prevention department of the National Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health consider the action as essential for rural areas, which are not as involved in prevention work as the capital is. Moreover, the PR action popularizes safe behaviour and family values as ways to protect from HIV, which is particularly important today.
For reference: Implementation of the international technical assistance project “Prevention and Treatment of HIV/AIDS in Belarus” started in December 2004 under the financial support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
