Contest "A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body!"

The nationwide contest «A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body» dedicated to the International Year of Sport and Physical Training is under way in Belarus. The contest is a joint initiative of the «Narodnaya Gazeta» Editorial Board, the National Olympics Committee, the Belarusian Physical Training and Sport Society «Dynamo» and the UN Office in Belarus.

The contest aims to disseminate recuperation experience of an individual, family, non-governmental organization, workers' collective, residential settlement, a city or a village thus contributing to enhancing the prestige of a healthy lifestyle among the Belarusian people.

The contest is open for non-professional authors who have sent the related stories to the Editorial Board. The best ones will be published in «Narodnaya Gazeta». The works are not reviewed and are not sent back to the authors. The number of works that can be sent by the same author is not limited.

Three winners will get prizes: tracksuits from “Narodnaya Gazeta” and digital cameras from UN Office in Belarus. Participants winning 4–6 places will get incentive prizes. All six winners of the contest will be awarded with diplomas of the National Olympics Committee and UN Office in Belarus.

The contest time framework: December 2004 – May 2005. The contest will accept letters sent by registered mail not later than 15 May (by postmark on the envelope) or by e-mail (). The contact person is Tatiana Volochkovich, a correspondent of «Narodnaya Gazeta» (contact phone numbers: 287-15-97, 287-15-68).

The jury composed of the representatives of the contest initiators will select six best works out of those published in «Narodnaya Gazeta» (3 winners and 3 laureates). The preference will be given to the works giving a bright and appealing description of recuperation efforts that have provided wide outreach and have been successful in promoting health values.

The award ceremony will be held late in May 2005 in the Conference Hall of the National Olympics Committee. Prizes and diplomas to the contest winners will be presented by Olympic Champions.
